1. First Duty – When Entry Is About To Take Place In The Confined Space , The Hole Watcher First Has To Check The CSE Training Card Of The People Going Inside The Confined Space. After That, The Name Of The Person Going Inside Along With The Timing Of Their Entry And Exit Has To Be Noted In A Sign-In/Sign-Out Log Sheet. This Confirms Who And How Many People Are Working Inside The Confined Space.
2. In The Next Duty, The Hole Watcher Has To Confirm That Before Letting Anyone Enter, They Have A Valid Work Permit And The Inside Atmosphere Has Been Gas Tested.
3. It Is The Responsibility Of The Hole Watcher To Ensure That Those Going Inside Have All The Necessary And Required PPE , And How To Communicate In Case Of An Emergency.
4. It Is The Duty Of The Hole Watcher To Remain In Constant Contact With The People Working Inside The Confined Space And To Get Information About Their Condition. 5. It Is The Duty Of The Hole Watcher To Do Atmospheric Monitoring Of The Confined Space With The Help Of A Gas Monitor, Keep A Constant Eye On Its Readings And Call People Out Without Wasting Any Time In Case Of Any Abnormal Reading.
6. In Case Of Any Untoward Incident Or Emergency Inside The Confined Space, It Is The Duty Of The Hole Watcher To Take Out The People Working Inside Without Wasting Time And Call The Emergency Service.
7. If Someone Gets Hurt Or Faints Inside The Confined Space, The Hole Watcher Should Not Make The Mistake Of Going Inside Himself. His Duty Is To Call The Emergency Rescue Service And Wait Outside The Manway Access Until Help Arrives. The Hole Watcher Should Not Make The Mistake Of Going Inside The Confined Space Even By Mistake.
8. Preventing Unauthorized Person From Entering The Confined Space And Informing The Concerned Person In Case Of Any Unauthorized Entry Is Also Included In The Duty Of The Hole Watcher.
   Note: – Unauthorized Person Or Entry Means That Someone Enters Or Wants To Enter Without CSE Training And Without A Valid Work Permit Or Without PPE’s .
9. After The Work In The Confined Space Is Finished, The Hole Watcher’s Next Responsibility Is To Get Everyone Out, Get Them To Sign Out, And Make Sure No One Is Inside The Confined Space. The Hole Watcher Is Also Responsible For Locking The Manway, Or The Entry Point Of The Confined Space, By Putting Up A Sign And Giving The Key To The Authorized Person.
10. Last But Not The Least! It Is The Responsibility Of The Hole Watcher That As Long As The Work Is Going On Inside The Confined Space, He Should Not Leave The Location At Any Cost. Before Moving From The Location, The Work Should Be Stopped And All Entrants Should Be Removed If He Has To Leave For Any Reason. If Stopping The Work Is Not Possible, A Different Trained Hole Watcher Should Be Assigned.
