  • Don’t Leave Appliance Wires On The Floor In A Way That Could Trap Them And Cause Them To Fall Or Cut Them And Give You An Electric Shock. Do Not Use Small Portable Electrical Tools In Wet Or Damp Locations.
  • Do Not Use Worn Or Damaged Bits With The Equipment.
  • Remove The Plug And Turn Off The Switch When The Appliance Is Not In Use.
  • While Using Electrically Operated Equipment, Safety Glasses Should Be Used To Protect The Eyes And Gloves Should Be Used To Protect The Hands.
  • A Competent Officer Should Regularly Inspect Electrically Operated Equipment.

14. Confined Space Safety

There Are Many Confined Spaces In The Factory Like Cells, Cyclones, Hoppers Inside The Bag House, ESP And Other Closed Equipment Of The Plant, Where There Are Limited Doors For Entry And Exit And There May Also Be Lack Of Air. If Necessary Precautions Are Not Taken Before Working In Such Places, A Serious Accident May Occur. The Following Things Should Be Kept In Mind While Working In A Confined Space

  • Before Entering A Closed Place, Ensure That The Work Has Been Fully Inspected By A Competent Officer And A Work Permit Has Been Obtained.
  • Do Not Enter The Building Unless Your Inspector Gives You Permission To Do So.
  • Check To See That No Equipment Is Connected To The Production Line Or Power Lines At All. While Working In A Confined Space, Use Only 24 Watt Hand Lamp.
  • When Working In A Confined Space, Make Sure That Communication Between People In And Out Is Easy.
  • Make Sure That All Safety And Emergency Equipment Is Present And In Working Condition. Make Sure To Use Them.
  • While Working In An Enclosed Space, At Least One Person From Outside Must Remain As An Overseer And A Man Must Be Available For Rescue.
  • Follow All Safety Rules According To The Work Permit Before And During Work.
  • Do Not Attempt To Rush. After The Work Is Done, Remove All Items From The Work Site . Return The Work Permit Only After Thoroughly Inspecting The Work Site.
  • In Case Of An Emergency, Inform Others Before Performing Rescue Operations.

15. Slip-And-Fall Accidents

Slipping, Tripping And Falling Are Common Causes Of Injuries At Work, Which Can Sometimes Be Serious And Even Fatal. Simple Steps Can Be Taken To Avoid These.

Slip:

  • Oil, Grease, And Other Spills On Smooth Surfaces Shoes That Aren’t Right, Wet Floors, Slick Things, Etc.

To Stumble Over:

  • Uneven Floors, Sudden Changes In The Level Of The Floor Surface.
  • Obstructions In The Aisles, Such As Tools, Trolleys, Packing Materials, Pallets, Racks, And Dangling Wires Objects That Protrude, Drawers That Protrude Forward, And So Forth.
  • Inadequate Footroom On Stairs And Stairs That Are Damaged Or Slippery.
  • Poor Lighting And Sudden Changes In Light Levels In Work Areas, Corridors And Stairwells. Dark Places. Clothing That Is Long And Flowing.

Fall:

  • The Floor’s Unprotected Threshold Moving Vehicle.
  • Floor Edges That Are Not Covered, Work Scaffolding, Elevated Corridors, Staircases, And Tall Material Stacks.
  • Unstable High Stools, Chairs, And Ladders.
  • Work Scaffolding That Is Unstable And A Weak Roof Faulty Scaffolds And Stairs Unstable Circumstances.

Floor:

  • Keep Your Floors Dry.
  • On Wet Surfaces, Walk Slowly.
  • Keep The Workspace Clean Place Equipment In Such A Way That Dangling Wires Do Not Cross Pedestrian Paths.
  • Make Use Of Safe, Fixed Wire Covers.
  • Colors That Are Easy To See Can Be Used To Show Changes In Floor Levels.

House Kepping:

  • Keep Stairs, Passageways, And Hallways Dry And Clear.
  • Keep Items Out Of These Places. Keep An Eye Out For Spills And Clean Them Up Right Away.
  • Enhance Spill-Generating Activities.
  • Make Sure That Materials, Tools, Equipment Etc. Are Kept In Their Correct Places.
  • Remove Unwanted Material Promptly, Clean Up Clutter.
  • Do Not Leave Objects Where They Can Be Tripped Over.
  • Make Sure There Is Enough Light In The Work Area.

Clothes:

  • Make Sure The Laces On Your Shoes Are Tied.
  • Make Sure Your Shoes Are Free Of Mud, Oil, Grease, And Other Contaminants.
  • Don’t Wear Clothes That Are Too Loose.
  • Don’t Drive Too Fast. Slow Down When Crossing Curves, Corners, Obstacles, Etc.
